What is the Lloyd E. Russell Foundation 

The Lloyd E. Russell Foundation, a tax exempt, 501 (c)(3) corporation, was established by Mr. Russell to promote unity, visibility and self esteem within the gay, bi, lesbian, transgendered, questioning (GBLTQ) and leather communities and to promote a positive image in the Atlanta area and  throughout the Southeastern United States through community activities and services

 

The Foundation provides members of the GBLTQ and leather community with assistance for activities and programs which enhance mental and physical health, provide social support and foster an awareness of the past and current contributions of the GBLTQ/leather community.

 

What will the grants cover

Attendance at an event, class,  or program geared to the community. These funds may be utilized to cover registration, transportation and or lodging for the duration of the event.

 

·The establishment of an organization for the education of the above mentioned community.  This may cover start up costs, postage, printing and other costs as deemed appropriate by the committee.

 

·The funding or partial funding of an event geared toward the education of the GBLTQ/Leather community

 

·Donations to agencies involved in health care, wellness and social needs of the GBLTQ/leather Community.

 

·Funding or partial funding of internet resource sites which provide accurate, current information to the GBLT/leather community regarding safety, wellness, equality, AIDS awareness, and historical materials.

 

·One time assistance with emergency needs of individuals within the community.  This may cover emergency food donations, housing, utility bill payments, car repairs of an emergency nature.

 

How many grants are available

 

Each calendar year, a total of fifty grants will be available.  When all grants for the calendar year have been distributed, applicants will be notified and invited to apply the next calendar year.

 

How much money is available for each grant

 

Applicants for grants may request funding as follows:

 

·Individuals may request amounts up to a maximum of $500.00 for attendance at educational programs

·Organizations may request amounts up to a maximum of $1,000.00 for educational programs establishment of organizations/programs or development of internet resource sites.

·Agencies may request amounts up to a maximum of $1000 for programs/services relating to health care, wellness and social needs of the GBLTQ/leather Community                                                     

·Individuals requesting one time emergency assistance may request amounts up to $500.00.

 

How Do I apply for a grant?

Individuals requesting one time emergency assistance may submit a completed application  One Time Emergency Assistance Grant Application via E-mail to lerfoundation@gmail.com

 

For individuals, agencies and organizations, an application form  must be completed Grant Application , legibly, either hand written in blue or blue black ink or typed for each request.

Applications MUST be submitted by mail. Any applications submitted via E-mail will be returned to sender.

Applications submitted for attendance at or establishment of an educational event must be received eight weeks in advance of the event. These will be reviewed and recipients notified within ten business days of receipt of application.

What are the limitations

Educational grants and grants to agencies/organizations are limited to one per person/organization every two calendar years. No one individual/organization will be able to receive more than three grants in any ten year period. 

What if my application is denied

 

Educational grant applications and agency/organization applications which have been denied may be resubmitted with additional justification up to four weeks before events/programs for individuals or providing organizations.

 

What if there is inaccurate information on my application

If questions or discrepancies are noted during the application process, the Foundation will take reasonable steps to resolve the issues prior to denial of the application.  In the event that falsification of information on any level is noted, the application will be denied.  Falsification of information will preclude the individual/organization from any future funding.

 

When can grants be requested

 

Individuals requesting one time assistance may request funds at any time. 

Agencies may request funds at the beginning of any calendar quarter. 

Applications submitted for attendance at or establishment of an educational event must be received eight weeks in advance of the event.
